Trees Now

Trees Now is a Kilkenny based tree planting initiative with the goal of creating pockets of native woodland around Ireland, beginning with Kilkenny and surrounding counties. We wish to collaborate with community groups, clubs, government organisations, schools, local businesses, local parishes and landowners to help Identify suitable land for planting native Irish trees.

This year we have 11,000 trees to plant thanks to the “Woody Farm Fest” which was held in Bennettsbridge, August 2019. An off grid eco themed music, art, food and sustainability festival with a focus on raising money to plant native trees. The day was a fantastic success, all our energy requirements were provided by solar panels from Glas Energy and we raised enough money to plant 8000 trees. Combined with an annual contribution of 2000 trees from Dan O Sullivan at Tree Services Ireland and 1000 trees from Colm Byrne at Glas Energy we exceeded our 10,000-tree target.

Now we need your help! These trees need a permanent home. We plan to plant the trees in public spaces or areas where members of the public will be able to appreciate these woodlands as they begin to mature. We are also interested in planting on private land, but landowners must be committed to preserving these woodlands and allowing access for future generations.

There has never been a more important time to start planting trees, please spread the word about our project and contact us for more information –
